A potential trainwreck for two troubled institutions has been averted, now that the Lindsay Lohan comedy Labor Pains will be financed by Nu Image/Millennium Films, as opposed to the cash-strapped Capitol Films. Labor Pains, set to begin filming June 9, stars Lohan as a magazine assistant who pretends to be pregnant in order to avoid being fired. Variety also reports that Capitol Films, which has sparked rumors of financial ruin lately with the production shutdowns on the set of Nailed, will wrap up the David O. Russell shoot on June 22.
In medieval times they had the likes of Galahad and Lancelot to protect and serve, but in modern times, the best we've got is washed-up actors actors and lily-livered scientists. At least, that's the idea behind Matthew K. Vaughn's spec script Roundtable, which The Hollywood Reporter writes has been picked up by DreamWorks. Described by The Reporter as "more Ghostbusters than Excalibur," the story is about Merlin coming to assemble a modern-day Roundtable to fight a resurrected evil, but finding some less-than-promising recruits in the process.
A few months ago, when the refrain "I'm F---ing Matt Damon" came out of millions of computer speakers, Wayne McClammy was to blame. He also brought us the follow-up, "I'm F---ing Ben Affleck," and now he'll be working on an actual full-length movie that will probably boast no fewer expletives. Variety reports that he'll direct the 20th Century Fox comedy Cool School, about ad executives forced to go back to high school to learn how to be cool again. Derek Guiley and David Schneiderman wrote the screenplay.
And finally, Oliver Stone's W seems to be the movie equivalent of a clown car, with new actors jumping on board each day. Today's new addition is "Desperate Housewives" hunk Jesse Bradford, who, according to The Reporter, will play the president of the young commander-in-chief's Yale fraternity.
